Wow, week 8 already

Of the many things we have learned thus far, I think the two that work the best for me are the Rainbow Meditation and reframing. I have set up a reminder in my computer so I can check off when I have done my exercises for the day. I have set this up so I can establish new habits. Only by having a check off list I must at least address every day, I am more aware of the need to follow through and execute them. I also will utilize exercise to help with stress relief.
I already have it set up so I go walking every night that it isn’t raining. To that I have added listening to my meditation each morning to help put me into the right frame of mind. I have started using the breathing exercises when I feel stress starting to become great.

  1. Mel,
I like the rainbow meditation too. I feel good after I do it. Sounds like you have a pretty good routine for yourself, good luck with it. I always forget about "reframing". It seems like a good idea.

  2. Another important tool I learned from last class I took with our Dr Fouhy, was HALT (hungry, angry, lonely, tired). It has stopped many a potential fight between myself and my husband because when I was getting frustrated I went through the steps and realized what was probably fueling my frustration was one of those four states.

  3. The time is this class has seem to move rather quickly hasn't it. We have had many concepts show to us. I like you idea of setting a reminder on your computer. I get very busy and do not make time for these exercises regularly. I can notice the difference. Since I always check into my computer that reminder would work. It sounds like you are making progress towards integral health.

  4. I'm with you...week 8? Really? We have learned so much in this class, I guess time has just slipped away. What a great idea of setting up a daily check list. I am an organizer, borderline obsessive compulsive, and this idea is a great way to keep up with the many demads of life. Like anything else, a healthy mind requires dedication and practice. I think many of us in this class will continue with our meditation exercises. They are so worth it! Thanks for all of your sharings.

  5. The reason I tend to be a list maker is that i have some of my daughters ADHD except mine comes in ADD form. I easily forget things unless it becomes part of a routine.
So this way I check it off each day until one day I won't need the reminder-I will do it without looking.

  6. Mel,
I'm glad your able to see the positive outcomes of these exercises. The rainbow meditation is one of my favorites as well. Reframing is also a great exercise to remind yourself that things aren't as bad as they may first seem. I love doing my exercises after a work-out. I think first thing in the morning is a great idea, like you said starting your day off right. In a perfect world, three times a day would be great, but finding the time is sometimes very difficult. Good luck, and keep it up! :)

  7. Wow Mel! It's great that you have incorporated this into your daily lifestyle! Finding new avenues to help us in our strive towards health and wellness has many benifits. I, too, have learned a lot over the past few weeks about how to release unwanted stress through fitness and meditation. Combining the two is a great therapy for ones inner self. Good for you! Keep up the good work!

  8. I have to establish new habits as well so that I can ensure I will stay in the best shape for my clients. I feel that this class has taught me the importance of relaxation and why it is so beneficial especially through stressful times. I feel that this is a reflection in my job as well as my personal life.
